How Can Parents Help

We love Parents!

Parents are always the first and best teachers of their children.

So parents, when it comes the R sound, we at BITE-R say “We’ve got this one!” Relax. You have the homework of school, the after school activities and all of the activities that go with being a parent. “We’ve got this one!”

We know when it comes to the R sound and progress is limited, everyone wants to help.

We know that your child may not be able to imitate the R but can recognize when someone else’s R sound isn’t said correctly. Your child may be able to say the R sound in one word, but not in another with the same sounds! Your child can be inconsistent in producing a clear R-word once and then say it incorrectly the next time.

This is frustrating! To the child…to the Parents and, honestly to the speech-language pathologist.

Here is what will happen as your child uses the device with the school speech-language pathologist:

1) Almost instantly your child will become aware of his/her tongue. The tension band on the Bite-R allows your child to finally feel what they should be doing with their tongue.
